Andrew Costa

Andrew, is a qualified commercial lawyer and started his career at Cliffe Dekker attorneys where he was a partner specialising in corporate and commercial law and competition law. One of Andrew’s main clients was Shell South Africa. He was part of the team that advised Shell on the first empowerment deal in the petroleum sector in South Africa.
He left Cliffe Dekker to join Standard Bank. He was a member of the Investment Bank executive committee, a member of the Debt Issuers Association and was the director and head of Standard Bank’s Debt Capital Markets and acting head of the Equity Capital Markets. He helped raise in excess of ZAR100 billion of capital for sovereigns, supra-sovereigns, corporates, and municipalities. He was at the forefront of many innovative and ground breaking initiatives in South Africa and Africa such as inward listings, convertible bonds, retail bonds, insurance and bank capital bonds, hybrid capital and project finance bonds. He has well established relationships with the South African and offshore investor market.
Andrew left Standard Bank, where he had established relationships with most of the larger players in the South African corporate sector, to help list Accelerate Property Fund on the JSE. He was appointed Chief Operating Officer reporting directly to the chairman of the board. Andrew was responsible for running the day-to-day operations of the company and compiling and implementing the short-, medium- and long-term strategy of the company. He left the company in March 2023 to help establish Kutiya Investments and Eluleki Capital.
